The Hormone Heroine features stories about
women who are pursuing their dreams or what I like to call women
using their HORMONZ. This is a place for
women to tell how they discovered their passion and the journey
to reach it.
This month’s Hormone Heroine is Marlene Nations
Vanhoose. Marlene is the receptionist at The Joseph
F. Sullivan Center for Nursing and Wellness at Clemson University
in Clemson, SC. Marlene has first hand experience with hormonal
women and men because she is the first person they talk to when
they come for their hormone consultation at the center. She catches
the brunt of “hormones gone wild,” and she is quick
to let them know they are in the right place.
I got to know Marlene while I was working at the university and soon discovered
we had one main interest in common. We both grew up listening to southern gospel
music, the music that influenced Elvis, Dolly and many other music stars that
are popular today. Marlene began her career in country music but now she has
returned to her first love and created a new genre called country gospel. Marlene
is a woman pursuing her passion -- Music.
